Litter of Alaskan malamutes are 5 weeks old. 10 pups total. Serious demand on the mother dog, keeping them plump in single digit temps.

Mother dog needs 8 lbs of kibble, meat, fat and 2 gallons of baited water per day.

Pups are supplemented with rice and salmon mush or rice n meat mush. I usually don't introduce softened dog food until theyve had time to develop their digestive system with fresh food.

Of course dewormer for mother and pups once a week. Pups are born with worms.

Straw must be changed every week.

My pup is bummed, her butt hurts from the meds/injection the vet insisted she needs to get for her fungal infection (on her snout).
Poor pupper is all slow and limping.

When the meds make You feel worse than the illness they're supposed to treat. :(

At one time my parents had 14 Malamutes.
I really love those dogs.

I still miss mine.

Geeze, thats alot of mals. Were you parents mushers? That dog of your's has a good build. Hes leggy and narrow up front. Hed be a good lead dog/breaking trail.

Ive been running mals for over 10 years now. They're slow, but they can pull alot of weight. If you start training in September and put the miles on them, they're very strong by mid November. Can usually travel about 30-40 miles a day. 4 mals can haul two gutted caribou and all your camp gear:

She. Her name was Neeka. 145lbs
No, my parents weren't mushers. A few of the dogs did do some sled pull competitions, but they just love dogs.
Mine was a puppy that came from one of their litters. Wakon bloodline on the dam's side. I can no longer remember the sires bloodline.

And you got that on the slower but strong. Get enough Mal's hooked up and you could pull a house
