Can anyone point me to where the model number is on this Craftsman 18" 42cc saw? It has a barwrench-less clutch cover that is broken, no fuel filter or fuel line inside the tank. Neighbor had it on side of road with sign on it. Thought it would be fun to get it going again.

Should be same as poulan 4218. Basically a poulan wild thing. I've had a couple green craftsman like that. They run pretty good with a muffler mod. Had a black one with the stupid little wheel chain adjuster. I hated that about it.

It came with 18" bar and chain that look OEM. (Sorry if the photo is misleading, I'm not giving it away) a neighbor had it in front of his house with the "Free..." sign on it. Thought I would take a stab at cleaning it up and getting it running again.

I didn’t think you were giving it away. I was wondering if you had to buy a bar. I was just going to tell you it's A041 oregon mount.

Serial number is right below the on/off switch on the case. It's a heavy translucent decal label and likely worn off on your saw. My Craftsman 4218 serial number is 02031D101801 : (07:40). Yours is probably pretty close to that. My model number is 358.350480. Here's my 4218 saw that runs well today:

A friend of mine found this saw in his basement 12 years ago and said, "Here, Edwin, fix it and it's yours." I did and kept it. The spark plug was a tad loose. It's a great limb-cutting firewood saw. Always starts and runs well.

Nice looking saw @Wood Doctor ….i just bought a bolt on side cover to replace the “tool-less” one that was on it, which was broken. Got it cleaned up, sharpened the chain, and just waiting for a fuel filter and some fuel hose. Looks like it’s only had a few tanks run through it except it looks like bar oil was poured all over it before the first cut was made! 😂 Good thick coating of oil and dust all over it.

It’s going to be a gift for my son when he gets out of the Army later this year.

I have the same saw except mine has the chain adjuster in the bar.

I have a complete Poulan version with 18" bar and chain free for the cost of shipping. As I remember the compression is just low enough to where it won't start. Its just sitting in the basement, give me a holler if you want it.
